The short answer
Three durations, one boat, no shared cabins
Riley Phinisi runs private Komodo boat tours from Labuan Bajo in three fixed durations — 2D1N, 3D2N and 4D3N. Every package charters the entire 29-metre, four-cabin phinisi for up to ten guests.
There are no per-person seats and no shared cabins. All three packages use the same vessel, the same crew of captain, private chef and deckhands, and the same departure point at Labuan Bajo harbour.
What changes is how much of the park you cover and how fast you cover it. The 3D2N tour is the most booked and covers every signature stop.

2D1N — the headline stops in twenty-four hours
The shortest tour Riley operates, and deliberately front-loaded. Board in the morning, sail straight for Padar, and be at Kalong for the bat flight by dusk.
01Day one
Labuan Bajo, Kelor, Manjarite and Kalong
Pick-up in Labuan Bajo at 11:00 WITA and board Riley. Trek Kelor Island, snorkel the coral gardens at Manjarite, then anchor off Kalong for the sunset bat flight. Dinner and overnight on board.

Padar sunrise, dragons and Manta Point
Sunrise trek on Padar, a swim at Pink Beach, the ranger-led walk among the Komodo dragons, then snorkelling at Manta Point and the Taka Makassar sandbar before the run back to Labuan Bajo.

Who 2D1N suits
One free day in a longer Flores trip
Travellers folding Komodo into a longer Bali or Flores itinerary, repeat visitors who only want the dragons and Padar, and couples marking an occasion with one private night at anchor.
Be honest about the trade-off: one night means one sunset, one sunrise, and little slack if wind or a park time-slot forces a reshuffle. Most guests who can spare a second night take it.

First-time visitors, on normal holiday pacing
Families with children, groups of friends filling the four cabins, and anyone who wants the complete park experience inside a long weekend.
The Padar hike happens at sunrise before the crowds, the dragon trekking can cover both ranger stations, and there is time for proper snorkel sessions at Manta Point and Taka Makassar rather than quick dips.

4D3N — every anchorage, no rushing
The same circuit as 3D2N, then a third night that slows everything down: a return to the best reef, a quieter anchorage, and unstructured hours on deck.

Snorkellers, photographers and long-haul travellers
Keen snorkellers, photographers chasing specific light on Padar or the pink sand, honeymooners, and multi-generation groups using the Master Suite terrace as a base.
It is also the most weather-resilient package: if one afternoon's crossing is lumpy, the schedule absorbs it without cutting a stop. If your group is flying from Europe or the Americas specifically for Komodo, three nights is the duration that justifies the flight.

What sits behind all three packages
Riley Phinisi is a 29-metre traditional phinisi launched in 2020 by the shipwrights of Bulukumba, South Sulawesi, built in ironwood and teak and fitted out for private charter.
She carries a Mitsubishi 6D16 main engine, cruises at six to nine knots, and runs generators and a five-ton fresh-water tank — enough to keep four cabins air-conditioned and the jacuzzi running across a multi-night trip.

Which package is the most popular?
The 3D2N. Two nights aboard covers every signature stop — Padar, Pink Beach, the Komodo and Rinca dragon treks, Manta Point, Taka Makassar and Kalong — at a comfortable pace, and it fits standard flight schedules through Labuan Bajo. Guests who book 2D1N are usually constrained by time; guests who book 4D3N are prioritising snorkelling or a celebration.
Is the 2D1N enough to see the Komodo dragons?
Yes. The ranger-guided dragon trek is a fixed stop on every Riley package, alongside the Padar viewpoint hike and Pink Beach. What the one-night tour compresses is water time — Manta Point becomes conditions-dependent rather than guaranteed, and there is no slack day for weather.
Can a package be extended or the route customised?

Are the inclusions different on the shorter package?
No. Crew, chef, all meals, snorkelling gear, guide, documentation and Labuan Bajo transfers are identical across all three durations.
When do the packages fill up?
July, August and manta season fill earliest, along with the Christmas–New Year window. Lock the duration first and fine-tune the route later.
