Private charter

Riley yacht charter — private hire for any occasion

One boat, one party. Honeymoons, family holidays, corporate retreats and photography charters, all on the same 29-metre phinisi with the same crew.

  • Whole-boat hire
  • Up to 10 guests
  • 4 en-suite cabins
  • Deck jacuzzi

What it is

One booking, one group, the whole vessel

A Riley Phinisi yacht charter is private, whole-boat hire of a 29-metre phinisi in Komodo National Park: four en-suite cabins, up to ten guests, a deck jacuzzi and a full crew with private chef.

Every charter sails from Labuan Bajo to Padar, Pink Beach, the dragon habitats on Komodo and Rinca, Manta Point, the Taka Makassar sandbar and Kalong's bat colony. Charters are managed by the operator, who handle crew, provisioning and park logistics for every departure.

The Riley cruise page describes what life on board feels like and the packages page covers the routes. This page is about the charter itself — who it suits, what it costs, and how each occasion uses the boat differently.

Rates

Priced per boat, never per person

One rate covers all four cabins, the full crew and the private chef. Because it is fixed per charter, the cost per head falls as the group grows — and a couple pays the same to have a 29-metre yacht to themselves.

Honeymoons & proposals

Two guests on a boat built for ten

It is the most extravagant way to use Riley, and honeymooners do exactly that. The Master Suite becomes yours by default: a double bed, private bathroom, air conditioning, sea view and — alone among the four cabins — a private terrace over the water. The jacuzzi, the outdoor table and the lounge are never shared.

The crew build the trip around privacy. Dinner on deck at anchor in Kalong bay while thousands of flying foxes cross the sunset; mornings that start on the Padar viewpoint before another boat arrives.

For proposals, brief the reservations desk in advance — the chef and crew regularly stage private set-ups on Pink Beach or the sandbar at Taka Makassar, where the only footprints at golden hour are yours.

Families

Drawn for multi-generation groups

A private charter absorbs the realities of travelling with children and grandparents that a shared boat cannot. Naps happen while Riley repositions between islands. The chef adjusts menus for picky eaters and dietary needs.

Swimmers of mixed confidence get the shallow, current-free water at the Taka Makassar sandbar, while stronger snorkellers drift with the crew at Manta Point. The Komodo and Rinca dragon walks run at your family's pace, with rangers, not on a group timetable.

Corporate retreats

A venue with no outsiders aboard

Ten guests is a leadership team, a founding crew or a top-performers reward trip — and a boat with nobody else on it is a genuinely off-the-record venue. The outdoor table seats the full group for working sessions; the sound system and screen handle presentations and evening screenings; the generators keep laptops, cameras and cabin air conditioning running at anchor, far from any grid.

The structure of a Komodo itinerary maps neatly onto a retreat: a Padar sunrise trek as the shared physical challenge, snorkelling at Pink Beach as the unstructured afternoon, dinner and karaoke on deck as the team night nobody has to organise.

Because pricing is per boat, a company pays one transparent charter rate rather than negotiating ten separate travel packages.

Photography & content

The one thing shared boats cannot sell: the clock

A private charter puts you at the Padar viewpoint for first light, on Pink Beach before any day boat arrives, and anchored off Kalong at dusk as the flying foxes lift — with the freedom to wait, reshoot, or stay another hour.

The boat herself works as a platform and a subject: her ironwood-and-teak profile under sail is the shot most clients come for, and the crew will run the tender so you can shoot Riley from the water. Overnight repositioning at six to nine knots means you wake up already on location, and the five-ton water tank keeps gear-rinsing and long showers realistic across a multi-day shoot.

Questions about private hire

Is a Riley charter priced per person or per boat?

Per boat. One rate covers all four cabins, up to ten guests, the full crew and the private chef. Parties of nine or ten sit in a slightly higher band than parties of eight or fewer.

Can two people charter Riley for a honeymoon?

Yes, and many do. A couple pays the charter rate and gets a 29-metre yacht to themselves — the Master Suite, the jacuzzi, the sun deck and a crew of eight.

How far ahead should we book for a specific occasion?

For a fixed date — an anniversary, a proposal, a company offsite — book as early as you can. Riley is a single vessel, and July, August and the Christmas–New Year window fill first.

Can you arrange a cake, flowers or a beach set-up?

Regularly. Tell the reservations desk at booking so it can be loaded in Labuan Bajo — there is nowhere to buy anything once you leave.

Is the boat suitable for a working retreat?

Yes, with the caveat that mobile signal inside the park is patchy and disappears entirely in places. Plan for offline sessions rather than live calls.
